Title: Looking for brown trout

Hello. I am from Indiana. Every year me and a buddy take a trip at the beginning of the year and try to target a certain fish. I have watched videos of people catching brown trout through the ice.  So I am looking for a lake other than the Great Lakes. Don't feel comfortable enough fishing the bigger lakes.  If anyone has any insight as to where to go,time of year or what to use for bait would be appreciated.
