Wow them perch are huge for here..and that's a nice pickerel..was that lake in metro or did you travel...cheers

i run 4lb test on my rods for pickerel
and i run 2lb test on a couple other rods i use for perch bows and smelt

 I must have had a bad batch of line ,I broke off 4 times in one day fishing rainbows..I got some sulfix ice magic mono so I will give it a try

I've had great luck with 4 lbs test power pro ice braid for trout, been using 10 lbs test ice braid but will be switching up to the lighter stuff, the 4 lbs test is limper, hard to break and knots hold strong if you use the right knot, caught 4 fish (1.5-5 lbs) on the same lure/same knot and its still strong as the moment I tied it.
