I'm not a huge gadget guy but this caught my attention. Seems small enough not to interfere with fishing and attaches to transducer cable so would get out of the way easy enough. A little spendy but...




I run an ice defense on my marcum lithium shuttle and it does work amazing

I used to know a guy who used cod liver oil in the hole. It worked, but then his lines and gear were covered with it. And if not removed after fishing, it rots and stinks. Not for me. I made hole covers out of an old truck box floor mat. Works great and was free.

For 6” holes cut a notch from edge of a Folgers black plastic coffee can cover. Insulates as well as absorbs any sun rays.

(I assume a little 'topiic drift' is OK on here by now.As you can see from above.there are many ways to skin that 'hole cover' cat, esp if you have been in the cat-skinning business as long as some of us----sorry,PETA people, no offence yunderstand!)
