DSM IA fisherman looking for ice
« on: Dec 06, 2017, 08:24 AM »
I live in Des Moines Iowa and our ice seems to be a ways out yet. We have some cold Temps coming but I'm afraid they won't be quite cold enough.

Wondering if you MN anglers would share some information on good lakes with in a 5 hour drive that will be iced up by next weekend 12/15.

For reference St. Cloud is just under a 5 hour trek from home. I would be on foot so not looking for a giant body of water.

Any help would be great!

checking the lakes around me this Friday (wright co lakes around Monticello area). if I find 4 inches or more I will be out on Saturday. Monticello is like 30 miles down the freeway from St Cloud. sits right between St Cloud and Minneapolis on I 94. from my place in Monticello I can be to Des Moines in like 4 to 4 1/2 hours.
Fishing is not a hobby it is a way of life

If it is that close then next weekend should be good to go! Is the fishing decent there? I'm just after pan fish and maybe a walleye or two if I get lucky.
