Lewistown, Fishing tourney/derby
« on: Jan 12, 2009, 08:17 PM »
This event takes place this comeing weekend and is a two day event. Sounds to be a fun time with several places paying out, and a big fish pot. To qualify for the second day you must place in the top 50. Has anybody fished this in the past or are they this comeing weekend?

I've done this one the last two years. 2 years ago my brother and I took 2nd place (about $400) and I had the 2nd biggest perch (and won another $125).  Last year we didn't even catch 15 perch, and it was colder than he**, so weren't able to move around too much.    Overall it can be a fun time if the weather is decent, I will be there again this coming weekend.  Tons of people on a little lake, but should be fun.  Good luck!

Yeah it's at East Fork.  There's talks of draining it but it hasn't happened yet.

It's a fun derby,I've fished it the last 4 yrs(took 8th last year). It's a two man team and 100 fish limit, plus biggest perch. The 2nd day is at Casino Creek res on Sunday.
I was told the top 30 teams make it to Sunday.I have been fishing it off and on since the middle of December, not as many dinks this year and the fishing has been touch and go,one day you catch a 100 and the next you drill 40 holes for 30 fish.

Hope to see you all out there.

As it looks right now count me in.  I will know for sure tomorrow.  Since I've never been there before, is the lake too small for a 4 wheeler?  I can bring one and a sled if needed.  What is the entry fee?   Thanks Ding

Teach a man to fish,  he sits all day on the ice drinking beer.

Ding,
Here is the details--- You have to register, you can do that at 8am on the Morning of I belive it is a $20.00 a team an $15.00/a pice for big Perch so a total of $50.00.The tourney starts at 9am and you fish till 3 pm.They then take it to the eagles for a Calcutta and a chilli feed.Top Seven from day one plus big perch pot will be paid. The next day the top 30 teams will have a 6 hour fish off on Casino Creek Res,highest 2-day weight total will be Grand Champion and take home the remainder of the pot. There is no limt on day 2 of fish, but day one is a 100 fish limit per team.

East fork has guys run 4-wheelers on it all the time,Casino is a little smaller but you can do it also.Casino holds Trout, perch, walleye, pike and suckers.East fork has Pike and perch and very few trout anymore.

I'm all paid and ready to go,just got told I might have to work now on saturday ARRRGGHHH!!!!!! :(
Hope to see you out there the big green Eskimo shack with 2 augers going will be us.
