Be careful what you wish for. They are not invincible. 2 feet of fluff with slush underneath is a recipe for disaster.

I don't remember why, but for some reason I decided to back down onto the lake that day, so i was able to run the winch cable up to me truck to pull myself out.....dumb luck

I was with a friend one day on the home water Glenn and the discussion that morning from him had been that "those things would go anywhere with tracks."  Later that day he buried it in slush and hung it up on the underside.  I think 5 hours later and a lot of work, it was back on land. ;D

Without full doors you're gonna have snow all over the place. Dress well.
I haven't been stuck in the slush yet. I did get a winch this year but I'm trying to avoid getting stuck altogether. These things are just too big and too slow to float over slush.
You may want to put ice screws in your track, that might make the difference in getting out or getting stuck.

It must be something in the water.

You guys with tracks on 4x4  Remember this story . I spent 3 hrs winching out one at the Sebago derby years ago there were 6" of new snow over a pressure ridge which had opened up from reverse wind driction and the driver went straight across the ridge which had opened up just enough to let the rear tracks to tip down and under the forward part of ridge .It was necessary to lift machine   with high lift jacks and pull from a dead man . It did get some damage but was able to drive off the lake. Unlike wheels the tracks tip forward and there was space enough to lock it in tight.  I think driving across at a diagonal direction would make that less likely. Catch some big ones..

Doors are a must!

Ice screws don't do any good if the tracks aren't touching the ice. I have about 600 altogether in the 4 tracks. All they could do was tread water. Not fun  :-\
