Good evening, cool and rainy day here with a high in the upper fifties . When the landscape service comes to clean up leaves here this week they better bring some rakes as I do not think the backpack blowers will be to effective with the damp-wet leaves.
Another food product recall for your knowledge Wanabana's -apple-cinnamon fruit pouches after the product found to contain very high levels of lead. All packages of apple-cinnamon fruit pouches are being recalled regardless of expiration date. Search for the company's website for further information or look for the recall notice on the FDA (food-drug administration) website .

Hunts2long may your wife's CRV now be ready to make the trip to NYC later this week. Congratulations to your teammates and you may next Sunday see similar results .
Ice Wanderer good to hear you will not need a snowblower to clean up any snow fall you receive this week. I hope all of the cabinets are now installed in proper locations and your neighbor can move onto the next project in the cabin build .
Wallyworld also good to hear you will not be needing your snow blower to deal with any snow received this week. safe travel and good luck wished for your son and grandson as they make the trip to Tennessee and with the ice hockey games. best to Mr.WW when he heads of to hunting camp.

Have a good night, may everyone have no problems from trick or treaters tomorrow. Best to all fishing and hunting.

             Good morning ER's,
Happy Halloween. It's 24* and clear here on my hill. I bet there is frost on the Pumpkin ::)
H2l........Safe travels to the city this morning.
Wally......I hope Mr. WW did a thorough inspection of the boiler before stating it up, you don't want to have to make another repair in the middle
of winter. Safe travels to your son and grandson.
Steve.....Thanks for the notification on the recall.  Some of those backpack blowers can really move some leaves, even wet ones.
Marv.......I hope you are seeing some deer? ???
Eddie......Sending continued prayers your way. :flex:
The cabinet adjustment real smooth and all the cabinet doors are on, the kitchen looks good.
                      Therapy this morning.
I hope everyone has a good Tuesday either at work or out. Stay Safe and Healthy.

Good evening, cool Fall day here starting to dry out from the rain. Quiet Halloween another year with no trick or treaters so now have a bunch of assorted M&M candy to consume at my leisure .
new day another recall this time for Dog food.  Blue Ridge Beef has voluntarily recalled their Breeder's Choice 2 pound raw food packages , FDA testing found presence of Salmonella in the food. Affected packages distributed between August 9-August 25.   Product code UPC 8 54298 001931     Contact Blue Ridge Beef for a refund.

Ice Wanderer good to read the cabinet adjustment was problem free and the doors are now on all of the kitchen cabinets. If I'm around next time the landscape company comes will see what they use to collect the leaves . May today's therapy session not have you to sore and the therapist be happy with your progress.
Wallyworld may Mother nature have been nice and let you work on the leaves today. Hopefully it stays just snow flakes by you tomorrow.
Whopper Stopper may you be seeing some bucks and they come into your comfortable shooting range during your time in the stand.
IFF have you come up with a plan on how to protect your water supply line from freezing.
Hunts2long may you have a trouble free trip to NYC and your wife get a good report from her doctors .
Edddie may your grandchildren have enjoyed trick or treating. I hope you are doing well and we see a post from you before to long.

A friendly reminder to my fellow New Yorkers next Tuesday Nov.7 Th is an election day. You will just be voting for local government and possibly a few judges at county or state level . Also two proposals on the ballot. Check locally early voting may have started in your area .

Keep safe, stay healthy Welcome to November.  Best to all fishing and hunting.

31* and Eddie is at the "table", November is off to a "great" start.

The trip down to the city went well. There was an accident just before the Albany exit on the way down that slowed us down. Then going into the city they were doing construction and had taken 3 lanes down to ONE for "morning" rush hour. The wife did very well, all is A-OK. We got home about 6 last night.

Have some things to do around here this morning but if the rain/snow holds off may take the rifle out this afternoon.

Have a good day and be well....h2l

                 Good morning ER's,
It's 25* and cloudy, I just went out to check my boiler and it's spitting snow here and thee. ::)
What a great way to start November off with a post from Eddie, Welcome back sir   :flex:
H2l..........I'm glad your wife had a good report. When traveling on the highway, there's bound to be something to slow you down.
Wally.......I hope you were able to get your leaves taken care of.
Steve......My question is on the recalls, how come they don't find things like salmonella before it leaves the processing plant?
Marv........I hope that the big one shows up  for you, it's not like you don't put the time in.
Raquett....I hope you have a good hunting season.
Yesterdays therapy was a rough one, she really put me through the ringer, but it's doing good. When I got home I blew the leaves from my yard.
I hope everyone has a good Wednesday either at working or out. Stay Safe and Healthy.

Glad to see Eddie post, hope all is getting better sir and good therapy is going good IW. Just working again here no vacation until Thanksgiving or so. Pheasant season opens today but will not head out until Saturday, swimming meet again in a couple weeks. Guess the boy is only off 2.5 seconds to qualify for state in the freestyle that he swam this last go. Daughter need about a minute off but signed her up for a few others and some that are not as long of a swim the 50's instead of the 100 that she did but also she is doing some 100's since the others were filled up already. Well have a good one everyone hope you all have a great day on the water, in the woods, at home, or at work where ever today takes you.

Good evening, cool day here with the afternoon high only reaching 45 will get down to 35 over night and feel colder with the windchill. may see some frost tomorrow morning. Tomorrow we warm up some with a high of 50 degrees.  Some of you will be familiar with this one time restaurant on route 17 the Red Apple Rest . part of the building is being taken down the rest found to still be structurally sound. The property still owned by the same person who purchased the business back in 1984 and closed it in 2006 . It had been up for sale for several years now off the real estate market . A person at the Town of Tuxedo Building office said there have been no applications put in to get permits to do a renovation or put up new structure to replace the part of building being demolished. before this news story the last i had heard was a relative of the family who had started the business back in the 1930's was negotiating to purchase the property do renovations and open as a Jewish Deli . The current own hoped that with Resorts World opening a casino in Monticello area of Sulivan county and Legoland them park near Goshen in Orange county someone would buy the property and do renovations or demolish everything and rebuild that never happened. During the 1930's through the early 1970's the Red Apple was a popular place to stop for those headed to the Hotels/resorts in the Catskill Mountain region of New York (Know as the Borsch Belt).

Eddie good to see a post from you. Hopefully you can shake the demons and get back to a "Normal" life. Best wished for your son's when they do get out to deer hunt. If I remember correctly they work in highway construction so can see them being busy as companies try to finish or reach a certain state of completion on projects before shutting down for the Winter.
Raquettedacker may things be good with you and the family .I assume you are getting the green houses ready for Christmas sales. Best to you with your deer hunting .
Whopper Stopper hope you are seeing plenty of deer activity and you have the chance to harvest one of the bucks you are targeting .
Hunts2long good to read other then traffic delays you had no problems getting to and from NYC. Congrats to your wife on receiving a good report from her doctors . may you have be able to hunt for a few hours today.wallyworld good you were able to mow the lawn and coolect leaves before the snow came to your area. May it melt quickly depending on how much accumilation your area received from the storm .
Ice Wanderer might be time to put ice creepers on the footwear you wear for trips to the wood boiler if there is snow/ice build up on the ground you do not need to reinjure your shoulder. I wonder the same with these recalls I assume quality testing is done during each production run . glad you felt good enough to handle the leaves after your therapy session yesterday .
Fish/hunt4ever best to your children at their future swimming meets. best to all of you with the pheasant hunting this weekend.

For those interested here is a link to my local daily newspaper's website Looks like the red Apple rest article is currently free for all to view on the newspaper's website     https://www.recordonline.com

May everyone have a good night. best to all fishing and hunting.

27*, it's going to be a cool start of the day.

I went into the woods for the last 3 hours yesterday. It was very windy and cool. Wind was all over the place so after an hour got up and did some "walk and sit". Lots of buck sign around. Had a doe come within 40 feet of me, from behind me. I saw her about the same time she saw me. There were 2 more deer out past her and they didn't seem to be bother by anything. They fed for about 10 minutes before they went out of sight. Not sure what they were.

IW, sounds like the therapy is going well.

Hope everyone has a good day and be well...h2l

Good morning ER’s. Was 19* on the porch this morning, pretty sad day here at the farm.  Linda’s fur baby of 13 years suddenly pass away last evening.
And of course Linda is shocked and heart ❤️ broken.

I’m still not over the sniffles.  But feeling like it shouldn’t last much longer.  So no plans except staying close to the fireplace.

 Best to all

Good afternoon everyone from my perch 20feet  up.

40 degrees which is the warmest it's been for a week.

Bud....sorry to read about Linda's dog. It's tough losing a litty buddy, worse when its unexpected.

I have been enjoying lots of stand therapy. The deer movement started out like gangbusters with multiple 8pt sightings. I have been swapping stands playing the wind but so far no shots.

This morning at 9am a good size black bear came bolting by at about 40 yards. My brightness display was low so I had a mad scramble trying to find the camera button and a worse time seein the video button. In the end I got a memory but not even a shareable picture :%$#!:

A couple days ago I had a beautiful 10pt coming down the trail which would have put him at 20yards. Just as I was getting lined up a doe busted out of some brush taking him with. That made for a kick in the gut.

Hope everyone is doing well.

good evening first frost of this Fall overnight light coating on vehicles and some roof tops this morning. Checking weather reports weather guessers were correct and it did reach a high temperature of fifty today.
Scary incident  this afternoon across the Hudson river in Village of Wappingers Falls (Dutchess county) a contractor working for local power company Central Hudson struck a gas line causing an explosion and fire. (according to preliminary reports) one building demolished by the explosion 8 adults and 2 children injured .
In national news the violence continues Wednesday morning in Los Angels multiple students stabbed at Van Nuys high school during a fight which broke out while a nutrition break was occurring school put into lockdown .
Hunts2long if you went out today may you once again have see deer close to your stand.
Eddie keep working and you will reach goal of getting rid of the walker and just using a cane. Given your limited mobility your wife probably is concerned that she will have to do the snow clearing this year .
Wallyworld thank you for the photo. If Mr.WW is at hunting camp may he also be seeing lots of buck sign and activity .
OldSailor best wished for you with the new dentures .
IFF my condolences to Linda on the sudden loss of her dog .
Whopper Stopper thank you for the report from the field. just do not miss a chance to harvest a deer because you were typing a post to ice Shanty. maybe you will see the bear again while in the stand.

Have a good night may everyone's heating systems be working properly as we all deal with colder weather. best to all fishing and hunting.

My therapy yesterday went well but I still have swelling in my arm, my bicep, tricep and under my forearm are very tight. They are almost lke
elastic bands, when I do the finger walk up the wall my arm almost snaps back like a rubber band. I didn't have this prblem when I had the other arm

32* and some clouds.

IFF, sorry for your loss of Linda's pet. They become such a part of the family.

WS, you are seeing deer, it will happen!

21* yesterday morning when I went into the woods. I can't believe the scraps I am seeing, they seem to be everywhere, but no rubs. Hunted both AM and PM yesterday without seeing a deer. My nephew left yesterday for a bow hunt in Missouri.

Eddie, slow and easy is all I do these days. Good Luck to the boys once they start hunting.

The wife got her flu, covid and rsv shots on Wed, she wasn't feeling good yesterday, tired and sore arms.

Have a good day and be well....h2l

Well the last day of the week today for working, hopefully I did not just jinx myself.  Headed out tomorrow to chase some pheasants around with a few guys from work and hopefully my buddy gets his schedule lined up so he can join as well.  Grouse and stuffing for dinner tonight and having my dad over, see if he is going to chase the pheasants with us tomorrow as well.  Going out and getting my stamp so I can hunt the area they release the birds, hopefully get my dog on more and let her figure out what she needs to do.  She does a good job now, just hoping this gets her going better for the birds.  IFF sorry for the loss of the pet, like many said they become so much of the family it stinks to lose them.  Well hope everyone is doing good and getting better with everything going on, have a good one and hopefully some pictures and stories of the hunt tomorrow.  Have a great Friday everyone.

Good evening, update on the explosion in Wappingers Falls yesterday force of the explosion demolished 4 row houses total of 15 people injure 2 children, 8 adults plus 5 fire fighters/ emergency services personal . while it is believed the struck gas line was the cause for explosion and fire incident is still under investigation at this time.
Ice Wanderer with time hopefully the swelling disappears, and the muscles loosen up just keep your therapist aware of things. Yes it is said students have to be concerned with violent acts while in school. It looks like fist fights are being replaced with fights involving the use of weapons.
Hunts2long may your wife not suffer any bad reaction to getting all 3 vaccine shots at one time. Looks like you are hunting in a good area may a nice buck pass by the stand and present a shot.
Wallyworld may your windows be sparkling .
fish/hunt4ever i hope there are no problems at your work so you and your friends can get out and pheasant hunt tomorrow. A safe and good hunt wished for all of you. may you dog get to put her training to work flushing and retrieving birds.
Whopper Stopper may one of the bucks you are targeting have paid you a visit today and been within your comfortable shooting range.

Good morning everyone

18 degrees,  it may get into the mid 40's by the afternoon.

I am taking the day off from hunting and heading to the laundromat in a couple hours. I also need to fill some gas cans. I have some stand work to do when I get back.

The deer have me baffled. A week ago the bucks were chasing looking for does, now I can see 3-4 baldies and no bucks in sight. I am hoping things bust loose soon as I have been staying on the does seeing 4-5 daily. I just need some bucks to show up.

I hope you all have a good Saturday.

Stay safe and keep healthy.

WS, well at least you are seeing some does. I believe the warm weather here has them moving at night. Got to 57* yesterday.

The wife was feeling better last night.

Will check in later....h2l
