Any rainbows this year
« on: Dec 26, 2008, 03:50 PM »
Just noticed there were only 5 species listed for tourney this year.  http://www.iceshanty.com/ice_fishing/index.php?board=187.0
Is there going to be more listed or is that it?  Glad to see lake trout back
Rainbows could then go in anything category.

This year I'm having only 6 categories. I'm also adding a "short entries area" as well.
I'm trying to lighten the load and yet still keep it competitive and fun. Each year I will change the categories to allow for more variety.
Some will be disappointed and others will be delighted .. I'm just trying to keep things fair.

Lightening the load looks in order Lonewolf. I'm sure it consumes alot of family time. Kudos to you.

I never really thought how much work the MOD has to go through.  Wolf can't sit on the computer all day I guess!

is the anything category going to work the same way as last year.  if a particular species of fish gets a certain amount of fish entered it will get a sperate listing in the anythin area.

Pretty well killed entries from the western mountain states. Hopefully next year, rainbow trout, one of the most saught after species will be included.

Same for around here.

Crappie bluegill and trout are the only things we ice fish for. Its unheard of to catch a 10.5" bluegill in iowa (atleast i have never heard of it) My best bet was to catch one of those 17" crappies that roam the miss river or a brude trout from a stocked lake. Now that trout and crappie are gone I have no chance in the trophy section.

Hopefully next year they will be back.

Would also be nice to see a largemouth or smallmouth bass catagory.
