I came to a decision a short while ago and this will be my last season running the online tournament.
It's come a long way since I started it 10 years ago. It's had it's ups and downs but it always seemed to go on with enthusiasm and for the most part friendly competition. It crossed states, provinces and countries and created friends that might have never been.

I hope this season goes smoothly and everyone has fun !!

I'm sorry to hear of your decision about the tourney. No this though, in the time I've been here, the tourney has always been a top notch operation. A much anticipated perk of IS by many here. Thank you for all you have done.

Its about time you get get to get out and enjoy the ice fishing season like a person as devoted to this sport should.

Well Doug, I'm surprised but also glad that you lasted this long.
You spend long hours on this Tourney and created a great event for everyone to participate in.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that has appreciated all the hard work you put into this thing throughout the years. I'm sure it is a great draw to the website as well.
Hopefully someone else can measure up and take over for you.
On the upside, you will have more time to spend on ice-fishing instead.

Thank you Ron and I know, you know how Terry will always be with me.

I'm not saying this is the end of the tournament but it may be.
Maybe another mod could take it over. That's up to IceShanty.

It was a blast watching everyone have so much fun, the congratulations on entries and watching the friendly arguing. But in the end I believe it built camaraderie and friendships.

As many posted yes it is a lot of hours previous, during and after the tournament and the only compensation was enjoying all of you and the great entries.

Doug, there is a lot more to this Tourney than meets the eye of many here.

Wouldn't it be a lot easier on you if the "Double" posts of some dozen already this year, knew how easy it is to "Modify" or "Delete" their multiple post.

And those that can't use/don't know what a user name/screen name is, geez, how frustrating and time consuming for you, OK, I'll stop, there's a lot more. Many thanx again for your dedication all these many years.

First off: THANK YOU!

Second.....DANG!

This will be my second season. This has been one of the most enjoyable things I have undertaken. With the eagerness of a twelve year old, I went out on the ice camera in hand and at the end of the day I could hardly wait to get home and post my results (always short), read and see what others have been up to, and hope I might get lucky in the drawing (Never did).

If there is an ice fishing God above, maybe somebody (anybody??) will fill those large vacant shoes...I can only hope that this will not be a final year (Why is it I always find the good things when they are waning??)

I'm hoping to have the main post with categories and prizes posted within the next day or so.

I was just looking at the # entered on the sign up page and it looks kind of low.

If IceShanty were going to continue the tournament in the future I'm sure the numbers would have to indicate a lot more interest.

Hope we do break the record but I just signed up today and we were at 884 then with one more signing up since bring it to a grand total of 885!

Either way......thanks for all the work you have put into this throughout the years! I have only registered the last 3 or 4 years but it has been fun!
