People, how the hell are we gonna be on the ice by mid january when the lows are bareley gonna be freezing the next 10 days.  we are gonna need a week of highs in the teens just to be on the ice by feb.  Wishful thinking, i wish some of you were right but it does not look good.

depends what bodies of water you want to fish and how much ice you feel comfortable fishing on  ;D

Like everyone else on here I'm hoping to be out there soon. Heard about Cabela's (potentially) backing out of Woodbury. Not new's I wanted to hear considering I pass by there everyday!

I think they are trying to get the best deals they can get on Tax Breaks & what the town of Woodbury would offer them to build the store there. Just as gready as everyone else is out there. I to was hoping it was going to be built there but I can only imagine how much worse the traffic would be !

I believe Cabela's actually backed out due to financial constraints.... I believe this is true because on their website Woodbury is no longer an "announced location" (as it previously was) or "opening soon" on their location map on their website while others are still listed as one or the other or open on there. Hopefully they reach a deal or realize that it could very well be a profitable location as we need a decent outdoor store in the area. Gander although has gotten better with their ice selection over the years it still sucks....

  • I FISH BECAUSE THE VOICES IN MY HEAD TELL ME TO!!
At Long Last....... One of the nation's premier fishing locations (Long Island, NY) will be getting our own BASS PRO SHOPS.  The new store will be located in Uniondale, NY (probably in or near the Roosevelt Field Mall shopping area).

I visited the next nearest store today in Bridgeport, Ct. to spend gift cards I got for Christmas.  Very impressed with this location.... it even had an indoor "Undersea" theme Bowling alley right in the store.  Today was their Ice Fishing Event day with a couple of seminars and an impressive display of Ice Fishing gear.

Now all I need is ICE !!!!!

at the risk of offending some of you who will do it any way you are a retard if you go on less than 4 inches of good ice and you have no respect for your family and should not put a fish before them sorry just had to say it be safe use a rope if you must go on less ice please

everybody of water is pretty much frozen... we shall see what makes it through the warm up we are going to get.... hopefully we don't get snow during the next cold snap. That will really screw things up. Should be walking on water in no time!

On another note I won the what day will iceshanty's 3 millionth post fall on and as a prize I got a bunch of hand tied ice flies from RG! They look awesome as well so those will tie me over as well. Can't wait to try them!

No one around had spikes or waxies till next week. Will use all or pieces of small red trout worms till first perch, then perch eyes after that. Or, back to worms. They will let me know..
