blades probably are but I'll just do what I did with my mora and get a Swedish set from strikemaster sent to me... might get lucky though apparently a lot of this years hand augers have the blades made in Sweden. It appears when rapala bought out strikemaster they sent the blade production back over to Sweden.... It's coming from a retail store in the Rochester/Buffalo area. Figure it's a floor model that didn't sell.

The blades what i'm worried about, I have a 6 "and 7" Mora from the 80's whit Swedish blades , for the 7" I have a spare set but for my 6" I don't and I refuse to buy Chinese crap.
I keep my sharpen whit a Lansky Sharpener set works like magic .

like i said if they are chinese blades I'll just call and get the Swedish ones for it. when I did that with my mora they sent them to me free. The majority of replacement blades are Swedish made and not chinese. Also, like I've said before it seems that rapala has shipped the production of blades back to Sweden and a lot of this years models come with the swedish blades on them. This wasn't expected until the 14/15 season. I might get lucky and not have to go through the phone calls to get the swedish blades

razvy   i got a new set of the 6" swedish blades this year from rapala.com for 19.99.   drilled trough the ice most of the winter with ease. i probably drilled 200-300 holes and my last trip out it was cutting just like they were new.

Bought a new  6 in lazer this year ...with china blades ....contacted Strikemaster with my concerns about the blades  ...their reply was use them and if l still had concerns to recontact them....l  did use them ....very limited ..as the ice got thick quick ... all in all they seemed to cut well ...had on a 20v max Dewalt to boot ...may be the "old China blade" issue has been resolved. Please post if Strikemaster heads you in a different direction.

Yea I shot them a email saying I cut a couple holes and then the blades didn't seem to cut any more and their reply was

"Thank you for your email and your feedback. Just because these blades are from China doesn’t necessarily mean they’re of poor quality. We strongly recommend giving these blades a chance out on the ice and we feel you will be surprised with the results. If you experience any issues, keep in mind these blades are under warranty against manufacturer’s defects with a proof of purchase. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask."

As there is no ice I supposed I will have to wait till next year to try them out again lol.... good thing it is a one year warranty and I have till 3/30/15 lol

Maybe you should asked about the specs on their steel? Inferior steel doesn't hold a workable edge, but quality steel would cut into the profit margin.(pardon the pun ;))  No blade is better than its steel.

Well spring is officially here as I got the first bluebird egg of the year today.... Normally I only have the beginning of a nest at this time of the year. They seem a couple weeks early compared to when I started a bluebird box in 09 and the past years.

Just got some great news today Cabela's is coming to Orange County!!!!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Construction on the 90,000-square-foot store is scheduled to begin in spring 2015 and Cabela’s expects to open the location in spring 2016. It will be Cabela’s second store in New York, joining the 88,000-square-foot Cheektowaga location scheduled to open this fall.

The store is expected to employ approximately 170 full-time and part-time employees, most from Woodbury and the surrounding area. It will be located adjacent to the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets near the intersection of Highway 6 and 17 at Averill Avenue.

“Woodbury will be a great location for Cabela’s and our customers in the Northeast,” Millner said. “We’re thrilled to announce a second store in New York and can’t wait to serve our customers in the area.”

The building’s exterior will reflect Cabela’s popular store model with log construction, stonework, wood siding and metal roofing. A large glass storefront will allow customers to view much of the store’s interior as they approach the building. The interior will be built in Cabela’s next-generation layout and include a large mountain replica, wildlife displays, indoor archery range and archery tech room, deli, Gun Library, Bargain Cave and Fudge Shop.

Ive always found them too expensive, but I like to window shop...

On the lighter side, here is a nice wrap-up of my crappie season:

Turn up the volume, and enjoy!

Kb nice video looks like you had a great crappie season. Good choice on the music Da Yoopers and Shad Rap always make me laugh.

Loudmouth that is great news .     I have been to their Hamburg,PA. store a few times ,hope they include an aquarium. Lets just pray the state does not pick the casino proposal foe that area as one of the Hudson Valley/Catskills sites. The area is already a traffic nightmare at certain times.

I'm just glad that we are getting a better store that will actually keep items in stock and have a wide variety of items unlike gander now that it's mostly camping stuff and dicks.... I order most of my stuff from cabelas anyway so now it will be nice to not have to wait for free shipping

There is a small article on page six of today's Times Herald Record about Cabela's plans. The store will open in spring 2016. The Article does not mention the store having an aquarium or restaurant. I agree with Loudmouth it will be good to have some competition for Gander Mountain and Dick's.

If memory serves me correctly it was some time ago (10 + yrs) that either Bass Pro or Cabelas were looking to build in the Newburgh area . It may have been just hopeful rumblings in my circle of friends . But Cableas coming with in a short drive seems very promising .... Hoping it is one of there larger outlets .Ive been to the Bass Pro's in Utica   and Auburn ...could of used a lil more elbow room. Ps the redigned Gander in Middletown reminds me of a Bass Pro .....Hmmmmmm makes you wonder .

There was supposed to be a Cablea's in the meadowlands years ago but that fell through glad this one is for real.....

in regards to the restaurant/aquarium and other amenities the Cablea's press release states....

"The interior will be built in Cabela’s next-generation layout and include a large mountain replica, wildlife displays, indoor archery range and archery tech room, deli, Gun Library, Bargain Cave and Fudge Shop."

Ps the redigned Gander in Middletown reminds me of a Bass Pro .....Hmmmmmm makes you wonder .

I was in there today to get a new sight for my bow and their Archery Section is now a joke.... It used to be so good now there were about 2-5 different kinds of sights, about the same amount of rests and no where near the selection of arrows there used to be. Their archery shop used to be nice now its a little counter top about the size of 2 school desks. How ever 3/4ths of the store is camping and clothing, 1/8th is fishing and 1/8hunting.... I used to be able to get everything I wanted there now cant get a thing.... Glad Cablea's is coming....

I do not remember reading or hearing of Bass Pro or Cabela's coming to the Newburgh area maybe as part of the Market Place mega shopping mall. They are finally starting construction on this mall. The lay out of the Cabela's sound like it will be similar to their Hamburg,PA. store . I remember the plans for Meadowlands store.
