Not fast enough. I recall two years ago i was fishing on muscoot reservoir dec 15 or something there.

i just spent a week up south of Rochester and on the trip back theres alot in Sullivan thats skinning over saw a few smaller bodies covered. as long as the temps get back down fast after the warm up we should lock up fast. then IF it stays cold we should be good on a few ponds/lakes by the holiday.

Hello everybody! I'm hoping for some great early ice fishing soon too! Here's hoping for a normal season, maybe some small water safe ice before new years

I had the privilege of trolling today and I found a patch of skim ice in the back cove. Not much doing, caught few pannies jigging a roadrunner and half crawler but as nice as it was , the bite was off. Bring on the Ice

all ready to go ...I sprayed the shantie down with camp dry...
I keep going thu.the gear checking things out trying to improve
on some things ... just waiting for the ice..

yes, it sure is that time of year where a fisherman has to wait for safe ice conditions. I suppose it is a good idea to subscribe to this thread to get early ice reports.

Onice2013...... How far south do you live?? There are not too many of us in the "Southern Zone" (I'm from L.I.) Trying to keep track of people in our general area so we can arrange a get-together this year. We've been thinking of somewhere in Sullivan County...... does that work for you?

Yes iceballs, it doesn't look good for anywhere below Sullivan. However, Sullivan has limited access to the few good waters it offers to the public. Some here have friends on private lakes. I just hope for a better year for ice fishing. If at all possible, I rather fish closer to home in Orange county. Let us hope for the best

We should be fine in orange county this year looking at the 10 day and it looks like around the 17th 18th its going to start getting cold again even snow on the 21st right now but I'm sure that will change. a white christmas would be nice haven't had one of those in a while. Last year I got lucky was up at college in CNY and they had plenty of ice. My dad said he only got on the ice for 4 days because that was as long as there was ice. This year should be way different than last. We have already had a colder november than last year and than the normal just hoping we get a week of some really cold weather to get some ice started. You'll see me on my home lake won't say what but if theres a guy in a orange hat and blue ice armor suit its me!
