Deer yet?
« on: Nov 12, 2007, 01:52 PM »
I'm still in deer mode.
Just wondering if anyone's tipped one over yet?
Just seen lots of does and a few small bucks.  Not giving up my doe tag just yet.
Now's the time - good luck.

This 125lb, crotch-horn died with a full mouth on 10/27/07 at 8:20am by my 200gr. .350 Rem Mag projectile fired from 40-yards.  Countyiceman (left) was 90-yards away and saw the hair flying upon the report of the weapon.

I wish......
I had a buck run up on me on Fri.
His reflexes were faster then mine and ran off...
All I saw was that tail through the trees...
Going out tomorrow same area...I can't wait for that first one with a gun..

got a doe in expanded, 1st doe and first bow kill.  Bout 100lbs - posted pics on mhf.

Shot at a spike that had walked in 3 days in a row, hit him low while taking a front shot, shaved him a little - bout it.  Saw an 8 pointer, couldn't get a shot and saw a really really nice doe - again couldn't get a shot.

I'll be after a buck now with my rifle as I'm done hunting the zone where I have by doe tag but I'll still be going out with the bow.  So I have a bit of venison in the freezer - my father still has lots from last year - gonna eat that up first.  No lack of venison!!

One small button buck and one nice, fat doe... both with the Matthews' Switchback XT and ACC 3-60 arrows. the buck was shot with a Sonic head and the doe with a Grim Reaper. Both in the L/A expanded zone..

Passed on a spiker in the woods out back. (rifle zone)  waiting for the big fella too make an appearence. Plenty of scraps and rubs.. he'll be good and stupid by this time, next week.

both bow deer are in the freezer, waiting for ice shack coleman stove cooking. The meat grinder that I got for Christmas, last year worked great!!  venison breakfast sausage sandwiches, and of course.... venison chillie in the smeltshack!!

I hunted southern NH today and saw 1 weasle, 1 mink, and 1 turkey.  The turkey did not have a beard or any spurs at all.  ( I looked this thing over at 23 yards on 9x) But it had the cleanest yelp and best gobble I have ever heard!  I honestly can not tell you what sex the bird was......No distictive markings on it!

I'm not from your part of the country but I feel the urge to brag anyway.   I got all of these last Friday.  I still have 2 doe tags and my elk tag left to fill.

I need a bit of information here... What are the hunting regulations on deer there?  Are these all your own kills?  That is an impressive pile of venison.

You can have up to 7 doe tags in certain areas and one buck tag.  The amazing thing is that none of it goes to waste.  We just don't buy beef.

My daughter thinks its great especially when I send them down the slide  :woot:  Just kidding.  When she was 2 last year she came out as I was hanging 2 antelope.  My wife was with her and about fell over when my daughter came over, looked the antelope over and said, "Yum steak! Delicious!".  My daughter is now 3 and she was with me when I shot every one in the picture.  She asked about shooting the mom deer with babies but I explained that deer only have babies in the springtime.  She was then all for it.  She was actually disappointed when we got home and I didn't cook steak.

LoL I'd say your daughter will be puting a few on the pole when she gets a little older.
So, 8 deer tags and how many antelope tags? I'm living in the wrong state.

she was with me when I shot every one in the picture.

So how do you hunt for deer in your area? Are they feeding in open ranges?

That last picture would be good for "you may be a redneck if........."
