39* here. Bad news...calling for a fair amount of snow today and tomorrow with low temps not getting much below 20* in the next several days. Good news...no ice on the lakes yet (at least in this area) so the snow can't ruin what isn't there. Just have to be patient...long range is still calling for cold weather in Dec. and Jan. Fingers crossed.

19 when I left for work this morning and below normal temps around us for the rest of the week. Our pond opened back up a little with the rain and wind but did retain some ice.

19 here this morning and a wintery mix last night made the truck look like a glazed donut and froze the garage door to the floor. The end of next week is not looking very good, if the rain stays away or is just enough to clear the snow and maintains 20's for over night lows we should maintain current ice conditions.

My thoughts too. Was out on a couple of lakes the past couple days...2-4" of good black ice. Rain is going to be cold and will freeze at night. And cold enough sub-surface to continue making ice. Heard it thumping all the while I was out. Disclaimer...I'm the eternal optimist.

Im thinking its safer for me to go steelhead fishing in my boat than get on sketchy ice now.not much of ice making temps in the forecast.im past the point in life where im taking chances of falling in on thin ice.its just fish..im patiient and will icefish when its time.

Be cautious, one fatality in Indiana last week, rescue in the UP the week before that. These things happen for early and late ice and one time is too often.

32 now was down to 26 last nite, there are lakes that are still capped in the area but not safe in my opinion !
