Marcum Lx7 - orange background
« on: Dec 02, 2017, 05:55 PM »
Pulled out my flasher from storage and when I go to turn it out the screen was orange. Saw that it was a low voltage and thought it was that but when I put it on the lithium shuttle I just purchased with 77% battery life, same thing ???. Anyone ever experience this? Tried playing with the color pallete and different settings to no avail. Picture is the unit in simulation mode.

This is the the first lx7 that came out so it is a 5-6 year old unit. I hope it's not retire time since it is an awful expensive unit. Thanks.

try a reset. found in the menu.

could try a firmware upgrade with the same firmware (reflash it) if the reset doesn't help. files are at marcums site.

if all else fails, it's 125$ flat rate to get it back. looks like the color engine is missing a color tho.

Reset didn't work. Tried doing a firmware update but computer could not find my lx7. Not sure if that was a computer or USB error but giving up and sending the unit to marcum. We'll update what they have to say.

thanks for the update!
did you call them to see if there is some thing you can do on your end?

125$ flat rate is not bad at all. the transducer cost more than that and they give you a new one when you send in for repairs. so it is worth it. they wear down or become not as sensitive as they were new. last i heard they had a 48 hour turn around.

Update! Here's what Marcum technician reported:

Here are the notes from the technician:
Replaced BGA and transistor on control board to get display working properly. Replaced 3-pin ducer connector and transudcer to improve signal to head unit.

So it is a must send in problem, something you couldn't fix yourself...

Yes it was $125 plus an additional $12.15 they charge for shipping. Not too bad for a $700 unit I guess.

right on!

the transducer alone costs more than the repair if buying only the transducer. so basically the repair saved you 5$ off of the cost of the transducer.

these units went up in cost. now they are 730$ retail/msrp.

thanks for updating us!
