weight of tip-ups
« on: Jan 24, 2014, 12:43 PM »
I have to pull everything by hand here in pa so weight is very important stuck at home today thought I would weigh some tip-ups.don't know if it matters but here are the weights. cheep green sticks with metal spool=9oz   heritage laker=1lb5oz   beaver dam=1lb4oz   polar by ht=11oz  round polar=11oz  polar pop up=7oz  windlass =11oz   ht musky=1lb3oz  polar thunder=13oz        I even use plastic spoon instead of metal to shave weight.sometimes I'm pulling good distances and I think it makes a little difference.all tip-ups had line and hooks with a spit shot but had about the same.

Interesting to know. If you carry 5 tilts and you went from Heirtages to the Polar Pop Ups, it would be 4.3lbs less weight..

How are you hauling your gear?

The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad.

the temps here lately usually in a scout weather better jet sled.don't bother with a smitty until good 4in of snow.usually cram it in a civic.obviously no snow doesn't make a difference what the weight is.
