Hey spoonfed, as you may remember my first post on this site was sag bay. I have been in contact w/ a guide out of fish point. He said that he's finally got enough ice and has invited me up just this morning. As you know, fish point is on the East side, so this may or may not apply to your area. I tried a Pontiac area lake over the weekend in my quest to finally pull an eye through ice. Had two hook-ups but no fish on ice. But if you get to desperate, I'd say it's worth the trip! Good luck, hope this helps.

I was going to try and make it up to the bay sometime in the near future. Does anyone know the ice conditions off of Linwood? It would be greatly appreciated thanks.   Nate

just returned from pinny area.only can get out to 4-6 ft because of piled up ice.there was aprox.5-8ioi where i was at.didnt look to healthy on the other side.i wouldnt yet and either did 6 other groups that were out there.i came out of cody estey rd. but pretty much fished straight out maybe a touch north of pinny rd.had to cross small pile up in 1ft water so it took me south for a spot to cross.my advice is if you dont know the area dont go out.watch out for pinny river and the others north of pinny.linwood no one out, thin ice.state park had two people out maybe 1/2mile out.i was aprox 3/4-1 mile out tops.ok fish-small.perch seen maybe 2 dozen caught 6 5" perch, 2 wallies 7" & 51/2".yes wallies.never seen them that small thought they were perch at first.seen about a 6lb lrg mouth and a 12-13"wally swim through.slow and cold.wind a whipping.
good luck and watch the winds.

have been hearing several reports out of the thomas rd. area.6-12 ioi with a crack a mile out.crack has refroze but watch the south winds.east side bay seems locked up.getting out to waters 12-15 ft. catching a few keepers nothing :o.there is open water on the west side but i and others have gotten to 8-9 fow.nothing to write home about.watch the river bars on the west side.follow path and dont venture to far.you could be on 10-12" and then a new 3". hoping to go to the east next week.will report.

be safe.dont go alone.

anybody been fishing the bay?

west side

decent shore ice from state park north with better ice to the north of linwood. 4-5ioi in most spots. watch for the cracks and be carefull if you cross them. 3 had to be rescued saturday after ice broke off. fishing is hit and miss for perch. have not heard anything for eyes yet. deepest you can get to is 4-6fow.

east side

bayport area has ice out to the islands. no good reports of fish.

be carefull out there.

I live in Kalamazoo but travel alot. Looking forward to getting on the ice at home. I fished Lake of the Woods, MN a week ago.  Limit Walleye/Sauger for 6 guys 3 days in a row.
