Eating cisco (?)
« on: Dec 14, 2013, 10:47 PM »
While walleye fishing this morning I landed a large cisco (17"). Does anyone have experience cooking & eating them? Are they similar to whitefish?

I filet them just like a walleye and deep fry them the same.  A little boney but real good eating.

My buddy says they are a little oily and therefore great in the smoker.   I have never caught myself but intend on smoking them if I do.

Some of the best smoked fish I have ever smoked.  Not bad in the deep fryer either.
