auger choice under 450.
« on: Dec 10, 2013, 11:51 AM »
Can't decide between the three, eskimo jiffy and strikemaster. I'm a huge fan of strikemaster and they have one for 419 $ but I hear jiffy is really good too. But at the same time the eskimo stingray runs 349. I don't want to spend a lot but also don't want to cheap out. I'm looking for quiality not speed. If the eskimo cut well and will last me a good time thwn I don't wanna have to spend the extra if I don't have to.. thanks guys
Cacth them by day, fillet them by night.

I like the Strikemasters but it's all personal choice when it comes to augers. If guys have good luck with a brand they stick with it. If you take care of a machine it will perform and last you a long time. That goes for all of them.

Poke around. I actually lucked out last year and bought an unused, year old model of a strike lite II...the 4 cycle with the Subaru engine still in the box and the guy had two of them. His family bought him one and he won one at a derby and I paid 60% of retail because he just wanted the cash.

You can find those deals too if you look around.

I've had real good luck with strikemaster.

Yes, the handles are actually plastic. I don't abuse my gear so it's not something that worries me and it keeps the weight down. I think the machine weighs about 22 pounds which is light for a 8" gas auger.
