ice conditions..capital district
« on: Dec 11, 2005, 07:44 PM »
Today, my brother and i split up and checked some local lakes.  I checked round lake and ballston lake, round had maybe 2", ballston had about an inch (both appeared to be open in the middle).  I also stopped by Saratoga bait/tackle on saturday, the river had some ice (alot of open spots) and the main lake (saratoga) looked to be totally open.  My brother hit the rensseler county lakes.  He said glass and crystal were still open, burden, reickert (spelling), crooked all had about an 1-2 inches, not safe yet.  He also drove up to the bowman ponds, Little bowman had about 3", big bowman was frozen over, but didn't check the thickness.  Hopefully the cold temps will stick around...
