Title: Anyone been on Kayuta Lake?
Post by: HybridHunter on Jan 24, 2014, 03:28 PM
Kayuta is right up the road from me. Thought about trying it tomorrow. Looks like Dustin rd bridge will be the best option to get on. It's very shallow down at the O'Brien rd bridge. Just curious how the ice was and how the pickerel and perch have been responding?

Don't they raise and lower the water level in the winter??

No you're thinking of Hinkley. They did lower Kayuta over the summer to work on the dam but not something that happens often to my knowledge. I've been on Hinkley when the level had changed over 12" throughout the day. It's an bad feeling when your seat drops out from under you. But the perch fishing is good and there is a lot of ice now.

I take that back. They do drop the water level for winter months. Not sure if you meant a continuous change or the lack of depth for the winter?
