Title: First ice
Post by: oldccm on Sep 09, 2014, 02:17 PM
Kind of chilly today. Means first ice is not far away. Should be on the ice mid November. Anyone else making plans?

I've been thinking about it since I sat on my new 2015 sled that was delivered last week  :)  Hoping for no wind and good ice formation before the snow starts piling up. Is that too much to ask? I can wait until the end of November…….after the hunting season is over for me  ;D

Drove by Oak yesterday and covered over, didn't check thickness though.  4" or more on some dugouts and swamps around already

It's here! Got some reports of guys on ice in the Duck mtns. Should be quite a few of the more experienced guys out this weekend. Commercial guys are probably on Lake Manitoba but I'll have to double check. I've picked my first trip as Nov 28. We get enough ice here I don't have to hurry out quite yet. Be safe and tight lines

Should be good ice this year as long as we don't get dumped on big time ! So far it's smooth , would hate to have it break up before it's thick enough !
