Anybody have tips to getting the cross bars on Lakers to tighten up easily. I've put some washers on them its helped a little.

If I need to tighten the crossbars up, I usually spin the the crossbar closest to the wingnut right up the screw, tight against the other crossbar. This has worked for me.

on my lakers i found that the wood dried and shrank making them hard to tighten. i took them apart and drilled the holes out. made them a lot easier to tighten.
