Title: epic day at stump couldn't ask for a better day

I guess it's a northern pike day. got one at 39 inch 15 pounds and one at 41 inch 22 pounds..pictures to come .

Post by: CHEPIGUY on Feb 09, 2015, 06:45 AM: i should mention that both pike went back down the hole frisky as all could be. i was going to keep the 22lber as it was a trophy fish for me. my goal now is a 25 lb or more then it gets mounted weather the wife likes it or not.. sorry wifey!!!!

Congrats on the PB pike and nice job releasing them for another day. You can always decide to have a fiberglass mount made for the pike at the end of the season. :tipup:

aren't the fiberglass replicas supposed to be higher quality too? i want to get one for a 10 pound largemouth i caught in florida a few years ago.

Not sure of the cost of getting a replica, but they look just as good if not better than a skin mount and they don't lose their coloration over the years like skin mounts do. From what I have seen and been told by others, Northeast Taxidermy in CT does great work with fiberglass mounts.

I started out ice fishing that pond 35 yrs ago when I lived in Woonsocket. there were not pike in it back then but we did get some nice bass and pickeral. we would build a fire on the island to keep warm and stay out of the wind and skate around til we got a flag. we would cut holes with a hatchet. that suxd but some of my best memories were on stump pond. guess I should go back to revisit someday soon.
