Just went for a quick ride mid day to check the ice. All conditions were recorded from 12:30pm to 2:00pm.

Long point. Standing water on top. Edges opened up in spots near bath house. Launch was deep water but looked Likely to hold up.

Dewittville. The creek has chewed its way out to the walking path. Bunch of brush and a 20' log on the ice now where the path was. Water on top looks like its deep.

Mayville. The ice looked the best out of all spots I checked. Not much left on top as the winds out of the west are helping a ton. Shore ice looks great

Prendergast. Shore ice looks spotty. Puddle do water at the launch looks deep from the drifts. Creek doesn't look to be flowing the far out yet. May take a day or two for that one to chew out. Surface doesn't look terrible.

Finally met up with another ice shanty member out on mayville today and want to give out a huge thank you to trebblehook who let me use his electric auger this morning..very helpful! Very nice guy with a lot of good ideas..sat in his hut for a second to check out his camera and what an awesome tool to have in ur arsenal..he just dropped it down there and there were perch everywhere..very cool..between trebblehook, my dad, and myself we were able to cover a large area but pretty much the same results, lots of little ones to weed through to get a keeper..good day out on the ice with some good people..look forward to doin it again soon

Anyone know how the ice held up around dewittville creek? Is it staring to freeze back up?

Ice is good. Creek chewed out about 100 yds is all. If you go there angle to the right to get away from the open area. With this cold spell it will lock back up but who knows how thick it will be. Surface is slick and now rock hard.

As gamehog said, ice is slick and drag is litterally effortless.. Cold windy morning to be without a hut... IM a dummy!! Glutten for punishment i guess..

We made it out to 63 feet of water off the harbor Sunday. Did well on perch. Got a few pushing the 14 inch mark. Filled up a bucket with 14 good perch all around 9-10 inchers. 5 of us. State cops and local polize were checking for helmets and two bars. Parking was difficult. I have an extended cargo van, and had to park up top. Be safe!

SCARY REMINDER!!!
I've seen it mentioned before, but thought I'd bring it up again due to a wake up call..
There are a lot of artisan springs in Chautauqua! My sister and brother in law did some walking around on the ice out of Dewittville on Sunday, when suddenly by sister broke through ( she weighs all of 100 lbs) .She went all the way in and under, and my brother in law was able to get her on top.
We all get a false sense of security after the winter we've had, you could be standing on 2 1/2 ft on one spot and take a couple steps either way and be swimming.
just thought I'd share..stay safe and tight lines.
