Not sure if the practice is universal, but in PA the testing was done for a time using the entire fish, ground up whole. This means the liver and fatty tissue, where pollutants can be concentrated, are also in there. So the numbers can be exaggerated. For my money, Chautauqua fish are yummy!

years ago while ice fishing at Maple Springs I ran across a guy from I believe the northern part of Allegany Co that gave me a recipe for bluegill/perch fish patties..  It was super good especially in the morning after warming for a minute from the freezer in a microwave.  Lost the recipe however if anyone has a tasty proven for fish patties - i would appreciate your sharing.. Thank you

In PA at least there is a generic once-per-week general advisory that applies to everywhere.

Not in NY?
There are fish advisories here too in NY.  I'll try to find them and post a link.  A lot of them say one meal a month.

Webs would prob be the only ace to snowmobile to the water. The whole lake is pretty developed so there's not a lot of trails along the water.  Honestly though, I've lived here for 4 years now and wouldn't take a sled out on the snow. The lake is very very narrow with several access points along the length of it.  Just not worth it to me to risk a heavy sled out there. Everything is within walking distance of an access point.

This year is shaping up to be much better than the last few, but you wouldn't of caught me out there the last few years with a snowmobile or atv.

Lovetoshoot   if im not mistaken the Happy Hooker is closed and will not be reopened for the season.  A couple days ago i saw a post where the former shop area has been redone into a garage... Brian and Lisa will be missed as well as the products they sold... Check back in pervious post and two stores were mentioned for sources of bait... Good luck in the up coming season - be safe and enjoy - living in the area I sure wouldnt want to run a snow mobile or even walk out yet - guessing another week if were lucky - hope some one else has better news

The hooker is def closed for good.  And it will be missed, they were great people.  There is a new shop just down the road from the hooker, in the dollar store plaza, near the lakewood cinema.  I've stopped in a few time and the folks there seem to be very good.  They are very interested in getting the stuff people want and they love getting feed back and suggestions.  They also support local tackle makers which is pretty awesome.  If your near the lakewood side of the lake, make sure to check them out.

Has anyone glanced North when crossing the bridge in last few days?  Wondering about Bemus Bay and Stow side in particular up to Tom's Point?  I know the far north is apparently open with all the wind.  Wondering if Bemus/Stow area to Toms Pt has a skin yet such that there may be some hope for getting out there around New Yrs.  THANKS

We got nailed with a lot of snow, so the ice which is there, is blanketed making it unsafe and sloppy. I'm getting the itch to go out like everyone else. I had my last bag of perch filets this weekend. I drenched them in pan searing flour, dipped them in an organic egg wash with a hint of oregano and flash fried them in a cast iron skillet. They lasted about 5 minutes, especially dipped in a velveta cheese and guiness dip. Outrageous!

Well the warm up is over. With the rain it should have gotten rid of the snow. Did the ice hold at Burtis?

This is only a drive by, but we were at the south end all the way to the north end from one side to the other today and there's ice from shore to shore.  I have no clue on what kind of ice were looking at though.  Any one even see what shore ice is looking like?

Hope the coming cold snap of the next 4 days locks up the southern end with safe ice for this weekend.  Ice gear is organized and ready to roll/slide.

I was there this morning before it started snowing.  It's iced over, but there were no tracks out on the ice.  I  made no attempt either.  Only my guess, but experience tells me that it isn't up to snuff yet.
