« on: Feb 20, 2010, 04:54 PM »
I see lamprey scars/wounds on fish All the time, Just about every northern ive pulled up this year has had one (or More) nasty wounds  on it, just wondering if anyone ever pulls up fish with actual live lamprey on them?

I get them in the boat all the time in the summer.

Kill them!!! Do not let them back into the water alive!

i remember hearing about a place where otters would jump out of the holes to come eat your fish on the ice! maybe just a fisherman's tale but interesting nonetheless!

HAHA, probably a good thing to release them. i hear they are a little greasy, and the fillets taste  like a mix between a bald eagle and a muskie!  ;)

No lampreys but if you fish in NEK you will be fighting off mink sooner or later. I
had run ins both in 08 and 09. We saw one last weekend but he stayed
on shore and left us alone..

they make good bait for large rainbows, char and burbot here in alaska.....ive come across small clearwater streams that were just filled with them....and watched the predator fish circling the deeper water, waiting for them. why kill them anyway? there an important part of the food chain, just like everything else.
