Catfish Bells
« on: Jan 24, 2007, 07:46 PM »
Anybody ever clipped the catfish bells that you can clip to the end of your pole to the end of your tip-up?  I tried it a couple of days ago, and if they aren't too far away they work awesome when you aren't looking.  Of course when you aren't looking, the bell sound is stuck in your head so you are always looking.  So yeah just curious??

I have been using them for two years on my frabill pro 10" AND THEY WORK GREAT !!!  I buy the bells and glow sticks in one pack from wal mart . Cheap and I use the glow sticks also at night on the bells . They hook  right to the flag rod and I store them in the tackle box on top . All my buddies mad fun at first due to the "Jingle Bells " but you get to watch them jerk there heads at the sound of the bells . Hope it helps . Jake

Where on the flat steel do you clip the bells onto?  Top near the flag or near the bottom at the tipup?

The round bells have a thumb screw that is used to hook them to a rod tip , I put them on the rod just below the flag . When you get a flag the spring action of the flag rod rattles them well . After I break the thumb screw I put the stem in the oval hole in the flag , since the flag is hard plastic . I hate to give Wal-Mart the business but they have the bells there (at ours) . Good luck , Jake
