Jawjacker vs. Automatic fisherman
« on: Dec 03, 2013, 10:40 PM »
Just wondering which you guy prefer between the two.  I personally have the automatic fisherman and am not a huge fan due to a couple issues so I thinking about trying out a jaw jacker.  Wanted to see what others think about it before I go out and buy one.  I like the fact that the jaw jacker is adjustable to different rods and how it is more collapsable than the automatic fisherman.  Any information would be great!

I have no experience with the automatic fisherman, but I recently picked up a jawjacker and I love it! Very easy to use, and it folds up nicely.

Howdy Zack, so many folks on Iceshanty are of the "Do-it-yourself" mentality and have run with the basic idea demonstrated in these and other hook-setting devices and have shown clever ways to adapt their own ideas into them with varying success. Some are "Hair-trigger" types and others allow a few feet of slack for the free run, which results in a "good take".   Use the "Search" feature or just ask for a link. Best you be handy, else you could get hooked.   ;)2

Here is the link to a thread from a couple years ago - still have both, but usually go for the jawjacker as it it compact/lightweight and has worked well for me.
