burbot question for northeasterners
« on: Dec 25, 2006, 09:51 PM »
when i was a little kid i lived north of boston a ways. my dad used to walk me back through the woods to a pond where we would fish with handlines for "horned pout" we also rented a rowboat to fish for flounder out at cape cod now and then.

would horned pout be the same as eelpout/burbot?

i was only 5 so i don't remember what they looked like, but we did catch them and we did eat them!

just wondering
thanks
jerry

2 different species.  Horned pout is a bullhead catfish.  Eelpout/burbot also are called Ling.
