              Good morning ER's,
It's 47* and raining here on my hill ::)
Wally............What a beautiful day to get on the trike and go for some ice cream.
Bud..............That's the way to go, be prepared for any weather. I'm glad you caught some Gills. How was the boat launch? ???
Eddie............Is it a computer problem or a server problem? ???
                         Steve............Well said.
Yesterday I got a last minute request to go pressure wash a dock and stain it. It was one I did two years ago on Trout Lake. I got it pressure washed
but now I have to wait for a dry day to stain, it looks like next Wednesday or Thursday.
I'm back to therapy this morning, we'll see how it goes.
I hope everyone has a good Wednesday either at work or out. Stay Safe and Healthy.

Good evening. WW did get a day of fishing in, and managed some nice gills. Went prepared with rain suits, and took along a pop up ground blind, that we would hunker down in if faced  with heavy rain.

Just watched the Colorado Av’s win the overtime first game with Dallas (2nd round of NHL playoffs).  They came from being behind 3-0

Now daughter will stay until Friday, trying to miss bad weather driving back to Wisconsin.

Word now is my County have canceled all schools for tomorrow due to sever weather that is forecasted.

Good evening sunshine and a high of 75 today forecast calling for showers on Wednesday morning and a high temperature of 81 degrees tomorrow.

Ice Wanderer as others have posted may the new medication help with the pain in your shoulder due to arthritis.  May you see an increase over time in the shoulders range of motion. The administration of Vassar College invited students to be present at the upcoming Trustee-Investor Responsibility meeting. Also going to establish a group of facility and students to purpose curricular innovations around topics of Peace- Conflict studies and for Middle East Studies. The article on my newspaper's website is from the Poughkeepsie Journal newspaper author/reporter Mickie Hayes wrote the article. I believe the Poughkeepsie Journal and my daily newspaper Times Herald Record are both connected to the USA Today news network. I will leave a link below for you and others who maybe interest can find/read news story.
Eddie sorry to hear you are having computer problems have you by chance make any recent changes to or installed new programs. if so they may not be communicating with your internet service provider properly. this is just my humble opinion I think many of the students do not support a terrorist group/terrorism but are upset with the actions taken by Israel against people living in the Gaza strip in general. Since this conflict started back in October there have been actions taken by both Hamas and Israel which have heightened/the tension between these two groups just like in previous conflicts/wars since the creation of country of Israel after World War Two. Colleges in difficult place as most encourage freedom of speech and open thinking so it becomes a balance of what is acceptable under the rules colleges may have in place regarding student and faculty behavior. Once again my humble opinion also today's students have so many sources to find news stories where during the Vietnam War protests of the 1960-70's you had a much smaller number of print.Radio and Television news choices and much of the news about the war was censored before being released to the public. I believe Vietnam was the first war in united states history where news correspondents with embedded with combat troops and you received live footage at times which I'm sure the U.s Military and government did not want public to see some of the things happening. We also need to remember today's college students are the grandchildren of the Vietnam protestor and have heard their grandparents stories plus learn about the war in school social studies/history classes.

I respect everyone's viewpoints and realize they may differ from mine . Hence why we avoid politics and some other topics on this thread.

Wallyworld I agree with your words once things turn violent or disturb the normal daily activities at a college there is a problem and protestor should expect to face repercussions for their actions. Also what is considered hate speech or actions which may violate certain laws. I hope you had a good ride today.

Hunts2long may your ankle be feeling better. A safe journey to-from NYC wished for the two of  you .

I hope we can discuss current events peacefully and keep this thread form being locked down.

here is a link to my local newspaper's website once on the home page scroll down it to find the Vassar college story.  I believe people without a subscription can see a limited number of stories before being blocked for a certain period of time.    https://www.recordonline.com

Ice Fishing Maine / Not Just a Bad Year
« Last post by BuckTrout15 on May 07, 2024, 03:42 PM »

Over the last two centuries, lakes around the world, including those in Maine, have seen decreases in the duration of winter ice cover. The easiest way to quantify the duration of ice cover on a lake is to record the first day each year in the spring where the lake is free of ice. This day is referred to as the lake’s ice-out day for that year. There exist large amounts of historical ice-out data. There are eight Maine lakes with consistent ice-out records that extend back from before 1880 to the present day.

This project is a painted grid, with each column representing a different lake, and each row representing a year, with the grid moving forward in time from top to bottom. Each point on the grid has been assigned one of seven colors, according to the ice-out day for that year, when compared to the average pre-1900 ice-out day for that lake. Darker red colors represent years with earlier thaws, and darker blue colors represent years with later thaws, creating a visual gradient from blue to red, with white representing middling values. Years with no data are marked in black. While many people who interact with lake ice in the winter, such as ice fisherman, may be familiar with year-by-year ups and downs, this project aims to fully represent the long-term changes to lake ice in Maine.

Clear and 46* start this am, high in the low 70’s today.

Jeff…best wishes are with you the range of motion increases moving forward, hope the new meds help without any side effects.
Steve…absolute shame for the hardworking non-participating pro Palestinian/Hamas students and their families at Columbia and other universities having their graduation ceremony cancelled. It should never have been allowed to escalate as far as it did supporting terrorism, I just don’t get it.   :%$#!:
Wally…Congratulations to Team WW on a successful day, excellent job!! Thanks for sharing the pictures, will be looking forward to the next trip!
Bud…hope you have bluebird skies and sunshine today, good luck if you’re heading out!
H2…hope your wife’s appointment’s go well for her this week and your ankle doesn’t prevent you from attending them with her.
FH4…congrats to your wife on the banner sales day, hope it continues moving forward with the nicer weather!

Have had some computer issues again, freezing up and slower than some of the turtles I’ve been seeing crossing the roads lately.  ;D
Busy week for appointments here also. Have a PET Scan today at 2 and follow up visits tomorrow-Friday. With a little luck, this will be it for awhile…keeping the fingers crossed.   Cawfee’s on….
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing!
