I'll take a go at it.  We did a lot of prospecting on Friday with the 4 wheelers on Winni.  I have never seen so much water on top of the ice.  I could of brought the jetski instead.  Some areas had 10" of water which made for an interesting day.  Couldn't make it out of the bay due to a wide pressure ridge.  Saturday, brought the snowmobile and skimmed it across the pressure ridge but still couldn't get to where I wanted.  Not a very productive derby for me.  Congrats to those who boarded fish.

Wow! Not a dis but weren’t you playing with fire there a bit? Boobtube has many that have tried to “skim” the pressure ridge with tragic results…again, not judging you…just an observation.

Took 5th on Saturday in the Pickerel category. Interesting day to say the least. See my post for the details.

No Derby pre-fishing or set plans, so tried some places I have never been before. Found more ice than expected and unfortunately less fish, but it was a beautiful weekend to be out. Hit two different 6 trap locations with trout... one east one west.  Managed lots of small perch, a few cookie cutter pickerels and a stocked bow using techniques discussed on the shanty...

Congrats to the winners and anyone that got out to enjoy the weekend.

Perhaps you're right Mow, I'm only human and prone to not always making the best decisions.  For the record, I didn't cross in the spot in that pic and did plenty of scouting where I did cross.  Either way, I wouldn't  recommend messing with the pressure ridges this year.  They are dangerous.

Glad you got across and back…and know you tempted fate! 👍
