Trip up North
« on: Jan 13, 2024, 07:49 AM »
My brother and I drove nearly 4 hours from CT to the Littleton area to try to find ice to get on. I had mapped out a few ponds to try and we ended up finding a variety of ice thicknesses, one being 3-4 inches of black ice with an inch of water and slush on top, 8-10 inches on a shallow backwoods pond, and a solid 6-7 inches on a 128 acre pond. Ended with 38 fish(9 largemouth, 3 smallmouth, 3 jumbo perch, 1 rainbow, and 22 native brookies), but nothing with much size. We were kinda bummed to not be able to get on a pike spot I had mapped out due to the river being so full from the rain, making the edges too soft to get out to the good ice in the middle. All in all, great trip, warmed up the jigging sticks and flags, and figured out some new bodies of water that we might head back to early next season before ice is safe in CT.

Great report man! Glad to see you just drove the miles to figure it out and got rewarded. Good stuff man, good luck, be safe out there.

Great example of putting in the work and the miles to be rewarded. Well done

No better feeling than doing your own research, picking a spot, setting up and smashing them! Sounds like a productive trip. Well done
