« on: Jan 09, 2012, 01:18 PM »
@) my dad and i both decided that an airboat or an argo would be B.A. for ice fishing...  ;D

i think it would be so much fun to have an air boat (unless you were the one behind it when it fired up)

On a good snow base it should work. Although on bare ice you might have to add some hyfax strips to the bottom or it will tear the bottom up after a while. Just my thoughts on this subject.

I did a lot of driving around the marshes, bayous, and inter-coastal waters down in Louisiana on a freakin' airboat.  The ones that I was riding around in have big v8s (like 400+ ci engines, none that were familiar to me though) and open headers.  Although they're great ATVs of a sort, they have their downsides......they're WICKED Fn loud for one thing!!!!  They're usually fine in backwaters and bayous but open water can be sktechy.  Any wind and you're not going over open water.  Also, the hulls of the ones that I was on were modified and reinforced with thick aluminum plates.

a local fire dept has an fan powered boat. they
have trouble with the boat in deep snow. it boggs down. on a couple inches of snow it works great

A guy on another fishing forum had a 22' hovercraft for sale a couple years ago which he used for ice fishing. It looked like a pot load of maintenance to me though.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.
