Gorham Pond in Dunbarton
« on: Jan 21, 2020, 02:13 PM »
I hate to sound all "newbie" but I was wondering if anyone had been there recently and could supply an ice update.
Normally I don't ask for a specific body of water, but I have an older BIL who expressed an interest in trying some ice fishing.
Since we both live in eastern MA, and we don't have any workable ice yet, I was thinking of driving up there this weekend.

If you don't have information for that pond, but rather that region, that would be fine too.

I fear that we will end up having a short ice season here in eastern MA....

I have a cousin who lives on Gorham pond, he said there's been wheelers and sleds out there, he's not a fisherman so couldn't give you actual ice thickness but I'd say it's fishable. Good luck let us know how you do.

That's one of my long-distance go-to ponds (I live near Dedham, MA) because the panfish are usually cooperative while jigging.

I figure if I have to drive to catch fish, why screw around looking when you are bringing a newbie along?

(part of the reason I want to drag his butt out on the ice (anywhere) is that his wife (my sister) passed last spring and this is the first winter without her, so the holidays have been tough. I figure if he enjoys the outing he may want to go more often.

Thanks for the info!

Hey Tim were you out there today? I ended up going there today with my dad. had about 9" of ice and was able to jig up some gills and caught some bass on the tip ups. Overall good day.
