PERCH EGGS
« on: Feb 14, 2007, 03:47 PM »
I was wondering if perch eggs are a good bait or chum? And if so, what kind of fish will they catch?

A fishery biologist told me that perch eggs have a natural toxian to keep other fish from eating their eggs . Hence why they quickly over populate lakes as part of there sucess. so bait or chum may not be the answer with perch eggs

Anyone ever deep fry perch eggs?  My parents had a friend who did when I was very young.  I've heard a few mentions of it, but never tried it.

I fried some up in a pan once, to my surprise they tasted just like chicken eggs. I didn't like the texture, it was like hundreds of tiny BBs in my mouth.

I think the way I've heard of is to take a whole cluster of them (as they are in the fish) and batter that then deep fry it.  I haven't gone out for perch yet this year, but I'm dying to try this.  I've been putting it off for a few years.  there's only one way to find out right?

I dust them with flour and deep fry them.  Have been eating them for about 50 years and still love them.  My sister prefers them to the perch.
