Pretty sure something with the drill itself is busted or they wouldn't have jammed it in a hole.  The battery lights up just fine though.

Nice find!!

If anything you have a new battery!

My option would not have been to try push it down a hole - I would have thought of another option to get it fixed that didn't involve shoving down a hole.................. .. :'( :'( :'( :'(

Did you check to see if there was an auger down that hole? May have lost it and just pitched the whole thing out of frustration.

Nice find, at least the expensive part was up in the air... The battery is worth way more than the drill...

No one would intentionally throw out their drill.

We found an entire sled, vexilar, rods, bluegills laying on the road.  Thankfully  there was ID in the gear.

That idea came up yes, but the chuck was all the way open and it doesn't have a power handle so I'm guessing it was on a plate.

No one would intentionally throw out their drill.

Sure they would if they think it's garbage, no different than the piles of cigarette butts and other crap I find all over the ice daily.  If I had any faith it was an accident I'd have posted it lost and found but based on where it was and the fact that no one had come back for it after at least a day the odds of that accidentally ending up like it did and where it did are infinitely small.

This is roughly the same place I found a rod laying on shore and thought "oh man somebody forgot their pole".  I picked it up and tried reeling it in and the reel was messed up.  The handle would turn but the bail didn't spin.  So somebody broke their reel and just left it laying there and went home.  The thing is the reel wasn't broken, it was a Pflueger and they couldn't figure out how to tighten the handle.

A friend lost his entire set up because he didn't  latch the tailgate of his truck  Power  auger, flip over,  rods, vexilar,, fish, etc.  gone.  Luckily a guy did find his fishing license  though.  lol

Too many shots and beers.

I agree it was dropped by mistake when they were packing up.  That's why I always look back as I walk away.  I bet someone is wondering what happened to it.

I agree it was dropped by mistake when they were packing up.

There is a chunk missing from the side of the hole where the chuck was jammed in, did they drop it from a plane?  If it was attached to an auger and was hanging out the back of your sled I'm pretty sure you'd notice it wasn't there when you go to load up.  The ice is smooth as can be with no snow cover and it's in an area where everyone only goes by foot because of the current and is only a couple hundred yards off the access so it's not like it was jostling around at 25mph behind someones atv and banged loose.  It had been there at least a full day since I took that photo at about 3:30PM on a day when it was 45 degrees and had to borrow a spud to chip it out.  And like I mentioned and you can clearly see it's not sporting a handle.  I've not personally tried to drill without a plate or handle and while I'm sure it's possible I don't think I've ever seen anyone do it that way.

I put it on heating pad with a fan blowing across it to make sure and get it good and dry.  It seems to be fine as far as the electronics go but there is something broken in the chuck.
