Gas Auger Blade on Cordless Drill?

I have an 8" Eskimo gas auger but i'd like to make the switch to electric this year.  Can i use the auger shaft from my Eskimo and attach it to a cordless drill or do I need a cordless drill specific auger?  If i can use my existing eskimo aguer, is there a conversion piece I would need?

Yup. That's exactly what my cousin does. Think he got the adapter from Eskimo, not sure, but it works swell!

My suggestion ..because of weight and assuming its shaver or lazer/curved blades on your metal auger ..is to get a  Clam Plate w/Gear drive and a Kdrill adapter 18mm to 22mm .. As for the cordless drill a Milwaukee 2803-22 or 2804-22 ...w/5ah batteries.

Depending on how good your gas auger bit cuts, you can attach it to a drill with an adaptor. My SM 10” gas auger bit cuts like my 8” SM Lite Flite that is designed for cordless drills. Obviously, the smaller the cut, the better it will perform. Here’s a video of my 10” and RIDGID Octane if you want to check it out
