We almost had it

So I have been watching the waters to and from work and they locked up nicely, but they have slowly diminished over these past cple days. I had hoped to be a long early start but they rain/snow warmer temps have lessen that opportunity. But with the drive I will be checking thickness with my chisel through the week

 :o :tipup:  Could be worse.   North country has good ice but its now under 4" of wet snow!   I'm waiting for more ice fishermen and snow machines to pack it down for next weeks freezing weather.

If they get rain up there, usually snow up north! The temps are right up there but they have gotten a lot o snow

I'll take 4" of snow.  The lake I kicked the season off on last Saturday is now under 30"!

The ponds are opening right up and tomorrow’s temps and rain will definetly ruin what ice we had!!! Darn it guess it’s back to trying to fill the freezer

Sorry to hear that rain will open up southern ponds.
Mountain ponds are still holding ice with wet snow on top.
With fingers crossed ice making temp will again for most of next week.   You should have below 20 degree nights and I'm hoping mountain temps will be 5 degrees colder than yours.  I hope to be back on the ice a week from tomorrow.

It's been a crazy start for sure! Seeing Mascoma locked up the day after Thanksgiving gave me false hope lol. Not that I fish there, but for something that size have an inch that early, I was sad seeing open water there yesterday.  :-\

Funny I've been fishing on 5" 0f ice in Ma. 15 minutes from NH for 2 weeks now.

  I live 10 minutes from nh and ice is no where to be found local to me. You must be quite aways West. I managed to get on hardwater today but had to drive 2.5 hours north.

 :tipup: :tipup:   white mountain forecast shows ice making nights from Monday night thru next Sunday with little snow.
If you believe in the ice
making formula we might have another 4 inches of ice by Sunday?  That's pretty good if we don't have any snow on
top  ;D :tipup:

I was in your backyard yesterday.  Snow is slowing the ice formation down...I skipped the local trout water and went home. Driving practice I guess.
