Water Depth
« on: Feb 07, 2008, 10:45 AM »
Just curious as to how deep you guys (and gals) are fishing.  I went last weekend and concentrated on ~20' deep.  I know to target breaks and structure but i'm just curious as to whether or not i'm going to deep or not deep enough.

the lake is 95 feet deep at it's deepest point...just fyi...

and i know it varies depending on which fish you target so lets say i'm going after perch.

Ive been killing the perch on the lake i fish in 15-25 feet of water. The lake does not have hardly any structure so i focus on the channels.
A good day fishing inst complete unless it's spent with family or friends.

30-35 feet, as long as there are weeds. I've seen perch caught in 70'

I've been nailing lake trout in 40-70 feet of water.

I think it all depends on the lake. Around here there are lakes that you can take then down really deep, while in others, they're in shallow.  Weeds, structure, water quality/clarity, location of food source, etc., all come into play, and all lakes differ in those areas, so you need to adjust your program to the lake, time of year, etc. That's why being mobile at the beginning often pays off. then you can find and set up over a group. electronics are always good too ;)
