Yes. NY you can have 7 lines. This is from the DEC Site - No more than 7 ice-fishing lines in any combination of devices may be used, unless otherwise noted in Special Regulations.

Only to keep them straight so no fights occur as to who's is who's. Mine are marked me, myself and I. It's ugly when we fight on the ice.

Yup, doesn't seem worth the effort to use 105 hooks on 7 lines, but you can.

Yup there is actually an ice fishing season I called once and asked if I could put tipups on small tubes and float them in the summer and was advised they could only be used during ice fishing season

Regulations state that you can use up to 5 lures per line.  :cookoo: That would be a mess.

Ice-Fishing Line Regulations
See definition of ice-fishing line

No more than 7 ice-fishing lines in any combination of devices may be used, unless otherwise noted in Special Regulations.
No person shall operate an ice fishing line that has more than 5 lures or baits in total or has more than 15 hook points in total.
The operator must be in immediate attendance when ice-fishing lines are in the water.
Between May 1 and November 14, only hand lines (including rod and reels) may be used while ice fishing.

Ice-fishing line means any device used for fishing through the ice, including but not limited to hand line, tip-up, tip down, etc.

Ice fishing means fishing through the ice on frozen waters.

Clarification of Ice Fishing Shanties regulations. ;D

Ice Shanties Regulations
Note: for the purposes of this regulation, portable shelters used and removed from the ice on a daily basis are not considered ice shanties.
Ice shanties must be marked on the outside with the owner's name and address in letters at least 3 inches high.
Shanties must be removed from all waters by March 15 to prevent them from falling through the ice and becoming hazards to navigation.

With the rising popularity of tip-downs, along with things like jaw jackers, automatic fisherman's, and i-fish-pros, the line between tip-up and hand lines blurred, so the state just gave up on distinguishing between the two and said 7 total of any mix.

oh, and you can use up to FIFTEEN on lake Champlain, I've never heard an explanation of why Champlain is so different. You can use twice as many lines ice fishing there compared to the rest of the state, but only 2 lines during open water.  ???

Yup. 7 devices of any type, and as far as I know, still no more than 15 hook points per line. I never use that many hooks on one line. It is impossible to fight a fish to the surface with so many points, hooking on the under side of the ice.

Literally everyone is refilling them.
Its legal to refill them, but it may be illegal to transport them on the road once refilled, but whos going to know?
