Waterport Reservoir a.k.a Lake Alice
« on: Dec 15, 2017, 07:07 PM »
I'd like to start this topic again and try to get some info on this lake and adjacent.  Reservoir, is it safe to ice fish?  Anyone fish it?  anyone care to head out with me this year there (alice, waterport or any part of it)?  Kinda worried about water drainage under ice.  Any info would be great.

Ive fished it a bunch. Not my favorite lake. But i hit there and Glenwood lake in medina from time to time. Alice is deep, has steep ledges. The edge has trees that fall in and has cover that can be productive. The small creeks that feed it are good spots to try. There is current there so ice can be sketchy. Glenwood water level drops more. Can get real sketchy to have water drop a foot or more in a few minutes. From lake alice i just hit oak orchard if i need to and usually one dosent let me down. Allice can be a nice place if you live there. Not sure its worth a long drive but if you figure the lake out and hit a school the panfish are decent size.

I just moved up here and have a friend that lives on the lake and says they see guys out every year . Stay tuned as I'll be spending some time out there and we can hook up and try it . I get days off during the week to fish . . I'll get down there and check conditions soon

Sounds good, I'm in.  I'm close to the lake and really want to try it this year.

Will do.  Nobody ever had an issue with water levels while ice fishing?

I haven't.  Getting the rest of my gear ready this weekend for my first outing.  Finger lakes on the 6th.  Im still worried about the water level there.  Nobody seems to know if that place gets drained.

No Lake Alice does not get drained like Cuba or Rushford. I haven't ice fished it in several years but when I did we never did all that great. There was an inlet where most guys seemed to fish (Otter Creek I think) ....   good luck if you go

Went a few days ago good ice six inch by the Kenyenvile bridge . Should be good by the state launch . Not sure where to park if you don't have a place on the lake . I'll be out tomorrow morning some time .

Nobody plows the parking lot at the boat launch....parking sucks. We fished near the bridge there the other day because we didnt want to shovel the launch area....caught few dink perch and rock bass....

I Fish this lake from shore and kayak. Would love to try and ice Fish it. JPG, I’ll go with you some time. I’m nervous about the flows, and would be nervous giving it a go, by myself.

I don't want to go by myself either.  I'm kind of nervous about the water flow.  I guess guys do it..  I'm headed to the finger lakes this weekend and the next.  Then I have surgery.  I probably won't be back in action until late February.

Otter Creek is probably your best bet. Have tried this lake so many times and skunked. As for Glenwood, I wouldn't. That reservoir drops in a heartbeat. Or at least don't venture too far out.

Right on. Which finger lakes?  Good luck with surgery. Wilson Marina - Fished it all day today. 15 perch, 10 gills, 1 bass. Only 8 keeper perch. 8ft of water. Had to move a lot.

Also stay away from the main bridge in Waterport. It is a straight drop of 80 feet. The salt spillover is iffy from the road. I do always see huts at Kenyonville rd inlets and out near the island.
