Islands Ice Report?
« on: Mar 17, 2017, 09:07 AM »
Just curious if anyone has been out since the storm... any safe ice? Getting geysers when you poke a hole? I would love to get out this weekend but only if it's safe and worth it!

No geysers but the water is under the snow already anywhere there were holes. Wicked bad walking...took my snow shoes which wasn't too bad.

5 or 6 trucks parked at birdland, guys were farther out than pre-storm. Not sure of ice depth but I'll check it out, with my auger, in a.m.

Carry had 6" close to shore. I guy who walked way out said there was 10". The walking is horrible. As usual, don't go close to the culvert.
