Cajun red
« on: Jan 15, 2009, 06:49 PM »
Hey guys, I have been a diehard user of berkleys blue iceline on my panfish rods and regular p-line flouroclear on my walleye rods, I recently stumbled upon a sale of the 3lb cajun red ice line.... anyone had experiences with this stuff? is it junk to be used for tying egg sacks, or good stuff for ice fishing???

My vote is JUNK!  I use strickly Fluorocarbon now on my ice rods, be it walleye or panfish.  I gave Cajun Red a try two years ago, not near as strong or durable as fluorocarbon.

Haven't used it yet, but I have given it a go on one reel. I guess ice line is more personal than anything. I hear "good" stuff about just about any ice line, however P-Line seems to be the most recommended/expensive (not that it's "expensive"). Going to give P-Line a whirl too when we're up in WI ice fishing.

I use 2 lb cajun ice on one of my spring bobber rods and like it so far.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

i use it for the leaders on my traps, the color makes it easier for me to see and unwind them from the spool plus it was cheap

Its pretty thin to sand. Try using 220 grit sandpaper. The finer grit should help.

I used it last year and it didn't stay on my reels very long. It seemed the colder it got the more memory it ended up with. I went with the new Powerpro Ice and so far love the way it works and feels.

Lol, smart a$$

I use cajun ice on one of my rods. Its nice and it hasn't coiled up much in a couple years. Trilene micro ice coiled up a LOT more. Cajun really wants to fall off the spool though. I release the bail and sometimes 3 or 4 coils pop off. Its never tangled, its decent line and I would buy it again. But I like Trilene Micro ice better.
