Goodbye 2024 Ice

Thoughts on this weekend being the last of the ice season even for the Berks? The rain looks like it did a number on even the high elevation ponds and lakes with solid ice

I put my stuff away for the season. I wouldn't be shocked if a couple of those tiny high elevation ponds were fishable this weekend but they aren't worth the drive for me. I hope anyone who ventures out this weekend is careful. The combination of wind and warmth we had yesterday is great for honeycombing ice. If you've ever had the pleasure of falling through a foot of ice you'll know what I'm talking about.

Was on 6"-7" black ice north central mass yesterday
Got one maybe 2 more days before it's over there too.

I'm calling it a season.  It was the shortest season that I've experienced.  I got out one last time on Saturday out in Lee.  I had a bunch of flags but only managed to connect on like 50% of them.  I ended the day with around 5 small bass, a pickerel and a blob perch.

Switched gears Sunday and dusted off the fly rod.  Unfortunately my usual winter holding spot didn't produce.  I bushwhacked into a spot I haven't tried in years and was rewarded with a chunky rainbow.  Catch ya over on MyFishFinder.

It was definitely a shorter season, but looks like it ended on a good note. See what happens next season.

Reviewing last seasons photos to this season, I had 46 days more ice last season!  That's crazy!  However I only caught 5 less bass this year than last. 95 bass in a month and a half, I can't complain too much.
