how do i catch pike that are very well fed ?
« on: Mar 14, 2017, 10:37 AM »
hi, our local lake has nice pike in it and now it is full of little perch and crappies....the fish and game put about 2000000 gizzard shad in as well. what has happened is the pike are full and all winter i did not catch a single one, where last two years i have managed approxamatly 130 between my partner and myself. so, its about ice out time here and we have done well in the past shore fishing a slip bobber with smelt under it, however im pretty sure that they might not be interested this spring. anyone have thoughts as to how to beat the full pike blues ? thanks for your thoughts.

....56 people read this...and had nothing to say ? i fished for them again today and  struck out again. slip bobbers and smelt were NOT the ticket today.

Try casting and retrieveing some rapalas, give them some erratic movements, I've had good luck with these for pike and walleye.

Your welcome, also can use weedless spoons of your fishing in weeds, red and white and 5 of diamonds worked well too.
