Isn’t that the smallest in years to win?

Not sure if it was the smallest in years. Usually the biggest pike is in the upper 40's. 2/3 years ago the biggest was 50 inches. 46 is a nice fish anywhere. Hope you are doing better....h2l

I think past year's pike was 26lbs or maybe that was the year prior...

10 is all good.  I just never have that size much at hand. 6-8-12-20-25 & 30 are abundant . My season usually starts with 20. I have tossed that down a hole on a trap and caught trout  :)
Jigging Lakers 8lb seems to spool nice on the rod and reel .
Stream trout it's 6 lb .
Good luck fishing.  I'm jealous and for some reason I put my gear on the shelf Sunday.  Hope the weather holds good and I get a itch by Friday.
Last week was the first week i didn't walk on water since Dec 15th.
With a week to go till the Ontario tribs and 4 until the boat splashes for stripers and great lake Ontario,  withdrawal sucks !!

Didn't get on the lake last weekend, but got to look at the ice.   Not too many on.  I was shocked.   South of Eagle there were only a couple people out.    In years past it was packed!

Think they screwed the pooch telling everybody how great the ice was leading to last year's tourney?

Be very careful, I was out today, still 18" plus of ice, but it has gotten very soft.  Ion cut through in half the time it took last week.  Have heard of a number of guys falling in, not on the edges, but on the main ice sheet.  old holes, drain holes not seen by the snow.  Expecting a foot of snow Wed afternoon-Thurs.  I'm done, packed away my stuff after this outing.  Sucks because I have more time to fish this March than I normally have.  Oh well, might have to pick a nice couple days and head down to the Farmington!

I'm bringing the spud and ice picks. Safety first. Where did u fish. We probly won't venture to far from the boat launch. Especially with a foot of snow. Hard walking

Right off the launch, in front of Rogers Brook.  Had 3 flags in close, salmon or brook trout, ran out line and dropped.  Caught one 2-3 lb smallie.  Had a few chasers on the jig out in the deeper water.  East Shore might be a good place to try.  Easy walk, don't have to go out too far to be in 60fow.  Lakers and Salmon. Edges are better over there.  I would not go off Fowler.

Any photos of the big Lake Trout a 35 " is big anywhere. Also impressed with the number of 25- 27 inchers .  Is it true only 1 salmon weighed in 23 "  good size.

I fished just south of the narrows the last three days.  Fishing was slow but managed a few lakers.  Ice was 14" in most spots but about 1/3 of the way out from the east shore found a stretch with only 5" of ice.  Will be dangerous with a lot of snow on it.  Be careful.

Heard another story tonight about a guy that went in to the top of one leg, drain hole.   This is so early for Schroon to be this bad.

It will be 5 no doubt.  Its 2h40m for me on a good day and I do that drive regularly.  If you get stuck behind plows on 87 you will be in for a long one.

I wish you guys the best of luck. While I put my gear away,  it is easily accessible.
Already jonesin.  I know friends are heading to 4th lake this weekend.  Others want me to hit schroon.  Sadly wife wants brakes on her car before I depart to the Ontario tribs. Sunday might be a church on ice day.
There is absolutely places to fish in that area. I start my season in early December up there.
I could name plenty but a topo map would show them.
Tips on schroon , I'm partial to the mid and South.  I know some great pike get caught all over in the bays . Not given the conditions since 9 days ago , I been fishing 45 fow areas for lake trout almost off the shore. Not so sure how the shallow water has held up.
