Title: Lake between Laramie and Wheatland?
Post by: wyotoach on Feb 14, 2011, 11:28 PM
A co-worker was telling me about a lake in the canyon that isn't really much of a hike. He said it is north of the highway but doens't know the name. Does anyone  know of what lake this might be?

Thanks!

Johnson Creek Reservoir, full of small trout. I drove right in a few weeks ago, didn't fish, I was just checking the road.

Thanks 327. Is it worth the drive from Cheyenne to catch a bunch of trout with the kids or is it just better to up to Crystal or Granite?

Fished it last winter, only cause I was elk hunting in there.  I would say its not worth the drive unless you are trying to get away from people.  You will catch more and bigger fish at Curt Gowdy.  Go to the last post here and you will see what to expect from Johnson.

I fished it 2 weeks ago on Saturday.  Took my 6 year old up and caught a bunch of little stocker bows. Biggest was 12 inches.  It's a go to lake for little tikes so they don't get too bord, as in you a sure to catch fish.  They are just small.
