Looking for a warm hoodie
« on: Dec 30, 2022, 03:34 PM »
Last year I bought a Clam IceArmor jacket. The one that you could buy a zip in fleece hoodie. Unfortunately, they have been discontinued and the fleece hoodie is no longer available. So, I am looking for a warm hoodie. I'm not interested in a sherpa cotton one. I've looked at some fleece hoodies on line and most don't have very good reviews. So, I'm looking for suggestions.

I have had a Carhartt 1/4 zip hoodie for two seasons now. It is very warm.

x2 on the Carhartt 1/4 zip. Mine is a Rain Defender, not waterproof but very resistant. And hands down the warmest hoodie I've ever owned. Love the 1/4 zip mock turtle neck. Keeps your neck nice and warm but opens up if you need to let off a little steam.

Oh yeah, there's a handwarmer pocket inside the front pouch too.

Macks Prairie Wings "Early Bird" fleece hoodie is the best one I've ever had. Crazy warm but not big & bulky nor heavy.

I highly recommend them. Don't let the "Early Bird" name scare you off. I thought it was going to be a lightweight fleece hoodie for early season waterfowl hunting but that's not the case at all.

I'm interested... How is the head-hole on this? Usually, my head is a snug fit going through the hole and it drives me nuts.

I wouldn't say it's an oversized hole in the hood but it's not snug around the neck for me either after i put it on, which normally would indicate that it's a smaller hole. (If that makes any sense?)

I wear a very lightweight fleece shirt 1/4 zip under my carhartt rain defender sweatshirt.  I wear a breathable t-shirt under that.  Rarely am I cold if the sun is out.

Duluth Trading Tradetek heavyweight hoodie.  They have lots of sales and got it much cheaper than the Carhartt equivilent, somewhere in the $30's.  It's a beast.

Check out Arborwear they make some great sweatshirts, they have a double lined sweatshirt. It’s heavy to the feel but wears very well, and extremely warm made very well. I love mine
