Slip-Jigs
« on: Jan 12, 2005, 02:56 PM »
Hi everyone,

 Water Wolf
here, glad to be a part of the IceShanty group. I have already learned new ideas by reading the posts, hope to try some of them out this season.
I also hope everyone is having a great ice fishing season. :)

I would like to know if anyone has heard of Slip-Jigs before? I was also wondering if anyone knew where I could find them in Canada? I first heard about them when I was watching the Fishing Alberta t.v. series. I tried to contact Fishing Alberta but the On-line Store was not working and no e-mail response. Any information on slip-jigs is appreciated.
Be safe and have fun!   ;)

ok to be serious this is the definition I have

Slip Jig Weight

This lure is basically a sliding worm weight with a tying collar to add a skirt or reel rubber. Finish the Slip Jig like a bass jig and fish it Texas style with a plastic worm. This lure is great for heavy cover and has more fish appeal than a standard Texas rig.

Thanks everyone, ;D

You are right friendly fishing, when I went to look up slip-jigs on-line, all I got was the Irish slip jig dance steps, lol.  The web site you suggested is the one I was on. The link at the bottom of the page would probably tell a person where to purchase the slip-jigs but it seems to be out of order, and has been that way for quite some time.

I saw them being used by Alex Kreis host of Fishing Alberta. He was ice fishing with them and as the web site shows, he was catching a wide variety of fish species.

From Pike and Perch to burbot and walleyes, from the underwater footage they seem to be very effective lures . You can also view some of the slip-jig under water footage by going to the Fish Alberta and click on the Under water Safari in the bottom right of the page.
 Good fishing everyone.

So many lures,
So little time.
